David Bell/News-Herald Photo Lake Havasu City Fire and Police personnel, along with River Medical Ambulance, attempt to resuscitate a 48-year-old man found floating face down in the Bridgewater Channel Friday. Attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful, marking Lake Havasu’s first water-related death of 2008.

An unidentified 48-year-old man apparently drowned in the Bridgewater Channel Friday

It was the first water-related death on Lake Havasu this year.

According to Lake Havasu City Police, bystanders discovered the victim floating facedown in the water off the north London Bridge Beach Park shore, near the Lion’s Dog Park, at about 3:30 p.m.

Rescuers pulled the victim from the water, called police and began performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation until the Police Boating Unit arrived. Police then began performing cardio pulmonary resuscitation until arrival of Lake Havasu City Fire Department personnel.

The Fire Department responded with Engine 5 and Truck 1, the same crew that Fire officials said rescued the same victim in almost the exact same location two weeks ago.

The victim was transported Havasu Regional Medical Center, with Fire officials continuing to perform CPR, by River Medical Ambulance. Officials said he was non-responsive prior to transport.

Cause of death remains under investigation. Identity of the victim will be released pending notification of next-of-kin.

" Well, well, another drowning in the Bridgewater Channel. Just to remind all of you that live in Lake Havasu. Carbon monoxide is the cause of most of the drownings that have taken place in the Channel. God bless this man's family. And, may you all remember a wonderful man, who drowned in that very place on May 26, 2003. He was found to have 47% carbon monoxide in his body. His name was Mark Tostado, born in Holbrook, AZ. He served our country in Bosnia and was a kind and great man.
Mark Adrian Tostado 1971-2003. A tragedy. "

It is not about the newspaper, the fire department or the ambulance, it is about a man who lost his life - no matter how it happened. Again my thoughts and prayers are with you. "

Could someone post the official website address as I would like to visit the site. As for the Council making decisions based on comments posted here. I don't think you have to worry about that, they don't even respond to certified letters of complaint. And, just for the record I always post comments using my name and no other. I find it interesting that desertrat used the quote that I posted a few weeks ago "if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem". I for one am still actively seeking solutions to issues that have been raised over the past six months. I just recently found the right website that had an official form to send a complaint against a judge. The complaints are handled through the State of Arizona Commission on Judicial Conduct just in case anyone else is interested. Posting complaints on this forum may be a way to vent but action speaks louder than words. If you have a valid issue, take action don't just complain about it. "

My son and his cousin pulled him out of the water, my neighbor started CPR and one of Jim's buddies, I think the guy that weaves the palm fronds, came down and performed mouth to mouth as I summond the police. We were surprised to see him at the channel Thursday afternoon, July 3rd, not really knowing how things turned out. There is more to Jim's story than we will ever know. The channel was packed both times and NO amount of police or fire would have made a difference. This is just a truly sad story, a sad ending to a life. Jim seemed to think he wanted it this way. it it just tough on the people who were there trying to help him. "

" Wrong, AZ Courtwatch does not do that same work as Mohave County Justice Watch. As for your background check, you will still need to submit to one to become a member of MCJW. You cannot have a criminal record, you cannot be a member of the bar, a judge, law enforcement of any type, nor can you work for any of the above. You cannot be spouse, or sibling of any of the above.
It is a great eye opener to see some of the cases that have been brought to our attention. Mohave County is ripe with corruption.
It was MCJW that exposed Taylor in Kingman as running contrary to the law and that his brother runs the department that is responsible to bring him to justice and refuses. As for the local court, do not think that "proof" not being posted that it does not exist. This paper refuses to post it. "

There is more going on to solve the problem then you know or are aware. Mohave County Justice Watch is a group founded in Kingman looking into problems with Prosecutors, Judges, and Cops. You can reach them through the MohavePolitics site. You must have a background check to become a member though. "

But maybe you who are looking to blame them for everything wish the house was burned to the ground.

Just remember who are you going to call when you need real HELP. I bet it's 9-1-1.

How many of you out there are willing to sacrifice yourselves for your fellow man? Yes they get paid to do it, but that does not dicsount the bravery Police and Firefighters show every day. Never knowing what the next call holds for them.

So remember as you continue to knock the Fire Dept they will still be there for you when you call regardless of whether you like them or NOT! "

" Declining tourism dollars have led to the cash crunch at City Hall that has in turn led to the reduced police and fire services.
Declining tourism is how a man can drown unnoticed in a channel that the paper would have us believe was full. A quick look at the photo provided in today's News Herald shows that it could have been taken any weekend in the summer. There were pleanty of slips available in that photo-something that does not happen in our usual 4th of July.
A suggestion to the Lake Havasu City Police Department would be to train with the Bullhead City Police. They have an excellent story in thier newspaper today about what should be the emphisized during a holiday weekend in a tourist town. It should also silence those who refuse to admit that this death was a failure of the police department, not the fire department.
I was on the lake this weekend and it was not as busy as holiday past's. "

" The paper got it all wrong. Again. Incomplete. Please get the facts right.

Hey, wonder if someone on scene said "vasopressin will kill this guy." I bet not. "

" Get real! They are never to release a name until next of kin is notified. That does not mean they do not officially know who he is. "

" He is unidentified to us, they know who he is but they can't tell us until the next-of-kin is notified: 'Identity of the victim will be released pending notification of next-of-kin.' Did you even read the story? "

" How can he be "unidentified" if this statement - by the firemen - given to the newspaper paper is correct - "The Fire Department responded with Engine 5 and Truck 1, the same crew that Fire officials said RESCUED THE SAME VICTIM in almost the exact same location two weeks ago."? And they know his age as being 48, but not his identity.

And - Notice how it points out under the picture that it was "Lake Havasu City Fire and Police personnel, along with River Medical Ambulance" and then also in the story it points out "with Fire officials continuing to perform CPR, by River Medical Ambulance." Most papers just say "paramedics" and “crews”. Has the paper been directed to print these descriptions? Or is someone trying to make a point? "

" Whaa, thanks for the laugh. Pretty sure they mean not realeasing his identity, but good stuff. "

" Whaa - GOOD CATCH! Oh my gosh. Only his identity is unidentified. But don't you know, the firemen can work miracles here. They can tell the age of a drowning victim, no problem, but can't tell you his name. "

" "An unidentified 48-year-old man apparently drowned in the Bridgewater Channel Friday"

If he is unidentified then how do you know he is 48 years old? "
