Kaffenberger cost still not determined

City officials are in the process of determining the final amount owed to former City Manager Richard Kaffenberger.

City Human Resources representative Shirlee Palbicki said the office has three days from the date of termination to evaluate the contract terms and come up with the final payment.

“As far as a settlement check, it has not been calculated yet,” Palbicki said. “(Friday) is the third day and we should know then.”

The amount of the contract will determine how much the city owes Kaffenberger after the council fired him during a special meeting Tuesday. City Finance Director Gayle Whittle previously said the amount would have been paid regardless of the firing and that the council would still be required to determine a contract for an interim city manager.

The council will discuss candidates for an interim city manager during its regular meeting Oct. 27 during executive session. City officials expect to hire and determine a contract following the meeting, which is expected to be about $30,000.

" $ 0.00 Dollars !!!!!!!!! Let him spend what money he has to sue the City. He won't see a dime for at least 5 years. Then Settle out of court for what you were going to pay him anyway. Pretend he's a tourist and just give it to him "

" You know when I read he was fired I thought it couldn't have happened to a better person. I dealt with him once on a phone call 2000 miles between us on a business matter regarding a 'senior citizen' in his community and he was the most unprofessional business man I have ever spoke with. I always questioned how someone with such a rude and arrogant attitude held a position in the city of LHC. So happy he was OUT VOTED. THANKS LAKE HAVASU CITY AZ!!! "
