Nov. 13, 1928 – Oct. 17, 2009
Jeanette Eleanor Carlsen Yocum, 80, peacefully passed away Oct. 17 to be united with her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jeanette was born Nov. 13, 1928 to Norman and Christine Carlsen in Spokane, Wash. After Mom’s father passed away when she was nine, she was raised by her mother and grandparents, Charlie and Kristine Johnson.
She met the love of her life, Donald Yocum while attending Washington State University in 1946 while majoring in education. They were married on July 6, 1948.
The joy of her life was raising three sons, Bradley, Bruce and Brent, all currently living in the northwest along with her five grandchildren, Trevor, Lisa, Ashley, Charlie and Forrest and five great-grandchildren, Robyn, Emily, Ashton, Sadie and Lathia, and daughter-in-law, Rosemary. Jeanette’s surviving spouse, Donald resides in Hayden, Idaho.
Most of Mom’s life was lived in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho while spending the winters in Lake Havasu City and summers at Priest Lake — teaching school in Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls and selling real estate in Lake Havasu City. She and Don moved to Hayden in 2007 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Mom will always be remembered for her smile, gourmet cooking and entertaining skills, beautiful eyes and spending valuable time with family and friends. Her heart of gold never turned anyone away. She will always be known as the “Life Line” that held everyone together. She leaves a deep void in our hearts and will be missed every day we are apart.
The family is grateful for the care provided by the Lake Assisted Living, Auburn Crest Hospice and NOSDA volunteers. Memorials may be made to Auburn Crest Hospice, 1810 E. Schneidmiller Drive, Suite 140, Post Falls, ID 83854.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at Yates Funeral Home in Hayden at 1 p.m. with a reception following at the Lake Assisted Living facility on Honeysuckle Avenue in Hayden. Yates Funeral homes has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Jeanette’s memorial and sign her online guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.
