Jillian Danielson photo/Special to the News-HeraldA semitrailer carrying an 85-foot blue spruce makes its stop on McCulloch Boulevard Monday afternoon on its way to the U.S. Capitol for the Christmas season. Visitors of the tree have been signing the banners on the side of the truck at each stop along the way.

This is the first time Arizona has given a tree for the U.S. Capitol. The tree is taller than a seven-story building and will be decorated with nearly 10,000 handmade ornaments. In addition to the Capitol tree, 80 companion trees will be placed in offices throughout the Capitol complex. The tree is touring Arizona after being cut from the White Mountains.
