Harrell D. Bastain Jr. passed away on Sept. 15 in Lake Havasu City. He was born on Nov. 18, 1921, in Waco, Texas, to Ruth Hazel Eldridge and Harrell D. Bastain Sr. He was married to Yvonne Bastain on April 17, 1999, in Lake Havasu City.

“Bass”, as he was known to his family and friends, was a very skilled electrician who was highly regarded by his peers. His career took him to such locals as Korea, Vietnam and Saudi Arabia. He was also a cabinetmaker, having his own shop in his younger days. He had a wonderfully dry sense of humor. Yvonne and Bass loved to dance, especially to big band music and have many happy memories dancing at the local service clubs with their many friends. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard in which he served from July 31, 1942, through Oct. 9, 1945. He moved to Lake Havasu City in 1991 from Orange County, Calif. He was a member of the Elks #2399, American Legion Post 81 and Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He is survived by his wife Yvonne; sons, Mark Bastain (Jane), of Fallbrook, Calif., Cass Bastain, of Longbeach, Calif.; stepdaughter, Karen Johnson (Jim), of Surprise; grandchildren, Blake, Brooke, Bret, and Tracy Bastain, of California.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to Alzheimer/Dementia Connection of Havasu, Havasu Community Health Foundation, 2126 McCulloch Blvd. #7, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lake Havasu Mortuary & Crematory. Thoughts and condolences can be sent to the family at lakehavasumortuary.com
