Max Allen Gifford went to be with his Lord Oct. 18. Max was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, on Oct. 1, 1921, and raised on a farm in Liscomb, Iowa.

Max Allen Gifford

After high school, he attended North Western Bible College in Minneapolis, Minn., and was always very active in church work as a deacon and teacher. After farming, he owned and operated a coin laundry, and then in later years, he retired and lived in Lake Havasu City, where he worked as custodian for schools. Max enjoyed a lapidary hobby with the beautiful gem rocks of Arizona. He had a good base voice and always sang in church choirs and men’s quartets, as well as his teaching and outreach work. Max was especially proud and happy to have obtained his Canadian citizenship July 1, in Peachland, and was the oldest candidate of 60 people.

He is survived by his wife Bette Jean; son, Ted; and daughters, Gwenda, of Iowa, Cheryl, of Idaho; stepdaughter, Candace, of Kelowna, British Columbia; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Lauren, Alissa, Audrey, Jenna, Aaron and Christal; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Oct. 26 at the Lakeview Heights Baptist Church, 2630 Alhambra Drive, West Kelowna, B.C., with Rev. Lyndon Dojohn officiating.
