James T. “Snow“ Majors, 88, passed away Oct. 19, surrounded by his family in Las Vegas.

He was born July 14, 1921, in Calvin, Okla., son of Thomas E. Majors and Ruth G. Douglas. After the death of his father when James was 5, he lived in a Masonic home in Guthrie, Okla., with his two brothers until about age 17. He married Gaye Douglas March 11, 1944 in Lawton, Okla.

He served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1943-1946. He worked for Pacific Bell and AT&T for nearly 40 years.

James will be remembered by family and friends for his keen intellect and his continuing quest for learning. His greatest love was his family, and their welfare was always his greatest concern. He took great pride in his family and the legacy left by those who preceded him. He researched and compiled family histories and united family by organizing family reunions for many years.

James is survived by his wife, Gaye Majors (Sebastopol); daughter, Vona Majors (Glenhaven); and grandchildren, Rett Mathews (Chico) and Katie Mathews (Sacramento).

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, at the chapel of Richard Pierce Funeral Service, 1660 Silverado Trail, Napa, Calif., 94559. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.rpfsc.com.
