James A. Nafsey, 81, went home to the Lord on Nov. 17. He was born to James and Mary (Roome) Nafsey on May 25, 1928, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Jim served his country in the Army Air Corps from 1945 through 1947. He continued serving as a New York City police officer for 21 years. Jim and Johnnie moved to Lake Havasu City in 1978.

Jim leaves behind his son, Jim (Shannon) Nafsey; daughter, Susan (Tony) Hatzis; sister, Mary Otten; grandson, James Nafsey; granddaughter, Damaris Nafsey; and nephews, Gary Otten, Steven Otten and their families. He was a loving and wonderful father. He always wanted to be remembered as a great guy.

We love you and miss you. We take comfort in knowing you are with the Lord and together with mom again. We know we will all be together soon. As you always said, “no Irish goodbyes.”

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sylvia “Johnnie” Nafsey on Jan. 26, 2006.

A scripture service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by a celebration of life, all to be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s name to Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.

Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.

Arrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
