Leroy M. Smiley passed away Dec. 21, 2009, in Lake Havasu City. He was born Oct. 5, 1914, in Portland, Ore., to Royal L. and Leona Mae (Daniels) Smiley. He lived most of his life in Carlsbad, Calif., where he worked as an electrician for Civil Service for 30 years. He served as an elder in his church for many years. He had a country western radio show in San Diego and sang on the radio in the ’40s.



He is survived by his wife, Florence; daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Jan Griffin; grandson and wife, Dana Griffin Jr. and Lori; great-grandson, Jacob Gomes; brother, David Smiley; and sister, Beverly Smiley. He is preceded in death by his parents, Royal and Leona Smiley; sister, Eileen Carpenter; and brother, Blaine Smiley.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. He was buried at Eternal Hills in Oceanside, Calif.

    " I am so sad. This man was my Great Great Uncle, and I had no idea he was living in Havasu. If I had kept in touch I would have been able to spend more time with him. My fault. I remember him from when I was little. I can't believe I let this opportunity slip away. "
