Rexford “Rex” Gene Wolfe, 60, was sentenced by La Paz Superior Court Judge Michael Burke, to serve 100 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections. The Nov. 30 sentencing ends a nearly one-year investigation.
In 2002, Wolfe stored some crates and brief cases in a shed owned by Jim Jarvis, of Bouse. Wolfe never told Jarvis about the stored child pornography. Jarvis cleaned out the shed in December 2008. When he discovered the child pornography, he contacted law enforcement.
County Attorney Sam Vederman told the Pioneer through e-mail approximately 10 to 15 containers were removed from the shed. Besides the child pornography, Wolfe had personal items such as military records, diplomas and a yearbook.
According to the press release Wolfe was living in San Francisco when he was arrested in May 2009.
Vederman prosecuted the case. Detective Mike Schwab, Detective Larry Kubacki and Sgt. King Clapperton handled the investigation.
Vederman stated, “As I have said all along, the credit really belongs to Jim Jarvis and the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office. The testimony of Detective Schwab sealed the case. I am glad I had the opportunity to contribute to this case and ensure Mr. Wolfe can no longer participate in the abuse of children. Child pornography is simply the abuse of children and anyone who collects child pornography is an abuser of children. Mr. Wolfe has contempt for the law and he showed absolutely no remorse for the crimes he was convicted of.”
